FLAX SEED CRACKERS

FLAX SEED CRACKERS

This is one of our favorite recipes to make in the Bio Chef Dehydrator! A crispy and crunchy cracker perfect for dips and salsas or also perfect as a bread alternative or pizza base... And the best thing - no gluten, no dairy, vegan and nut free!

Have a look at this easy and versatile recipe below:

2 cups of Flax Seeds
1/2 cup of Sesame Seeds
1/2 cup of Sunflower Seeds
2 1/2 Cups of water
1 Tbsp. Tamari or Soy Sauce
1/2 cup of basil leaves

1. Blend all seeds together in the Bio Chef Blender, until a 'meal' like consistency ( not quite powder).

2. Add remaining ingredients and blend until it turns into a thick paste. Add a little more water if it is too thick.

3. Smooth out paste onto a non-stick sheet or some baking paper and place onto your Bio Chef Dehydrator Tray.

4. Dehydrate on 45 C for 15 Hours, and turn half way for optimal results.

TIP: How about adding some tasty extras... Dried tomatoes or olives are perfect!

EASY GUIDE TO SIMPLE DEHYDRATED FRUIT

Here is an easy and simple step-by-step guide to dehydrating some of the most commonly found fruit in your Bio Chef Dehydrator. Follow these steps for all other types of fruit and even veggies! To prevent any browning (for appearance purposes only) simply squeeze a small amount of lemon juice or kiwi fruit juice over the top and that should ensure the are bright and colorful (good for fussy children).

We have decided to go with ol' favourites - Banana, Pineapple, Strawberries and Apples!

Bananas

The easiest way to slice the banana is working from one end to the other and slicing into approx. 3mm thick slices (think like a $2 coin).

Then, simply lay out onto the Bio Chef Trays, try and ensure none are over lapping.

Pineapple

And now for Mr.Pineapple... Take his top off (seriously...), and remove the outer skin. Slice into 5mm pieces and feel free to keep the core in (does not add a bad texture, just a bit chewy in the center).

 Strawberries

Take the top leafy part off the strawberry, and then continue to slice the strawberries into 3mm slices. They will dehydrate down to quite a small amount, so do a big bunch at once!

Simply place onto your Bio Chef Trays, and once again try to ensure there is no overlapping.

Apples

You will need to remove the core from the apple, we have used a normal kitchen apple corer to do this. We leave the skin on our apples for chewiness, but feel free to remove the skin if you wish.

...

Place the trays into your Bio Chef and lock trays into place.

Settings: We turned our Bio Chef to 50 C, and we set it for 10 hours, which was perfect!

EASTER BUNNY TIME!

The year seems to be flying by and it's Easter already (although the four-day weekend has not come soon enough for most of us!). It's a tricky time for those of us who usually avoid the naughty sweet treats, chocolate after chocolate after chocolate... We have put together a couple of "just-as-good" recipes to satisfy even the sweetest of tooth's and make you feel like your indulging without the guilt!

Simple Raw Chocolate Slab

Ingredients:

1/2 cup of raw cocoa
3/4 cup raw coconut oil
1/2 cup cashew nuts
1/2 almonds
1 tbsp. honey

Place cashew nuts and almonds into your Bio Chef Blender and set to high for 30 seconds until powder like consistency.

Add all remaining ingredients and blend for a further 30 seconds until mixed through. Pour mixture into molds and freeze for 4 hours. Keep refrigerated.

Cacao Truffles

Ingredients:
1/2 cup cacao (preferably powdered)
6 Dried Apricots
1/2 cup of dried strawberries
2 tbsp. melted coconut oil
2 tsp. agave nectar
1/2 fresh vanilla bean

Add ingredients to your Bio Chef Blender, except reserve half of the coconut oil. Turn on your Bio Chef Blender on low setting and slowly add remaining coconut oil. Blend until smooth and fairly pliable texture.

Simply roll into small balls and refrigerate.

TIP: Add what ever dried fruit you prefer e.g raspberries, banana etc.

Also, add nuts for chunkier texture e.g. cashew nuts or macadamia.

Also, roll in coconut or extra cacao for extra texture and decoration.
